KPS celebrates Indigenous Literacy Day

Posted on Friday 7, September 2018

Students at KPS participated in two events to celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day. Firstly, during the Great Book Swap students brought in a book they were happy to give away. They then brought in a gold coin to participate in the swap. All money raised went to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) to help purchase books for children in remote Indigenous communities.

The second event was held at Federation Square. 70 students from Years 3 & 4 attended the launch of a new book from the ILF called Deadly Sisters of Worawa written by 13 students from Worawa Aboriginal College, author Anita Heiss and our very own Art Teacher, Shelley Ware. It was a great morning that also included another huge book swap.
