Student leadership
Action Teams are an integral part of the student leadership program in Year 6. This allows the students to have agency and voice within the school and prepare them for high school.
They meet weekly with their teacher mentor to discuss the needs of the school, conduct surveys and develop action plans to engage the school community. Each team takes on an interest that is student driven for example; creating organised competitions during lunchtime, talent and art competitions, gardening clubs, organising sports carnival and even fundraising events for Cancer Council or The Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Currently our Action Teams are:
Ambassadors
Sustainability
Physical
The Arts
Literacy
Numeracy
Community
Our fortnightly school assemblies are hosted by students. This is a collaborative process in small groups and challenges students to show initiative in its organisation, communicate clearly and for many students to become a risk-taker when presenting to the whole school.
Some of the outstanding results from our action teams include the development of the “Spend 1/3, save 1/3, donate 1/3” model that drives and is the outcome of our fundraising activities for the community.
